What is the Marin Horizon Auction? The Marin Horizon Auction is a community-building event that brings together Marin Horizon parents/caregivers, faculty and staff to celebrate and benefit MHS and raise funds for strategic initiatives. This year’s theme is el Caribe and the event will take place on Saturday, May 14 at the Peacock Gap Clubhouse.
What does the Marin Horizon Auction support? Proceeds from this year’s Auction will support special initiatives and ongoing school programs.
What is the difference between the Horizon Fund and the Marin Horizon Auction? As with all independent schools, Marin Horizon relies on philanthropic support to balance its budget and support the people and programs that makes our school so special. The Horizon Fund allows Marin Horizon to be flexible and responsive to yearly budgeting needs, and supports teacher salaries and benefits, professional development, classroom and program expenses, tuition assistance, outdoor education, technology, athletics, and the arts. The Auction is an opportunity to socialize and build community while also raising funds for school programs and initiatives.
Is there a cost to attend? Are sponsors needed? Full-priced tickets are $200 per person and will be available for purchase in April. Discounted tickets are available for families receiving tuition assistance. There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities that include sponsorship of faculty and staff to attend as well as underwriting. As ticket prices do not cover the entire cost of the event, sponsorships are needed to enable Marin Horizon faculty and staff to attend free of charge.
How many people attend the Auction? This year we expect about 275 parents, caregivers, faculty and staff to attend the Auction.
What is different about this year’s Auction? We are now pivoting from a yearly Auction to a biannual event. We will alternate between an adult auction one year and a Family Art Walk Festival the next.
What should I wear? What is included with my ticket? Do I bring my children? Attire ranges from semi-casual to cocktail. Many guests come in festive or themed attire. For el Caribe that could be something with bright colors, tropical prints, or flowy fabrics. Your ticket price is all-inclusive and includes open bar, passed hor d’oeuvres and a full sit-down dinner. There will be live entertainment featuring interactive drumming, dancers and a drum performance. Attendees will also get first chance at Sign Up Parties and Super Silent Auction items. The Marin Horizon Auction is an adults-only evening
